President Elect Obama

Congratulations to Mr. Obama.

Yes, he’ll be my President and yes I wish him well.

And yes, like Jonah Goldberg I was/am torn between a couple ideas of what wishing him well means! [insert evil laugh]

I will admit, it’s kind of cool to have a black guy in the White House. Though it would have been a lot cooler if it were Michael Steele.

I left the local watering hole last night after the O-Bama chanting started. I think these people are truly looking to this man to “save” the ‘verse. I think these people will be living with the illusion that all is well with the world now for some time. With the press in the tank any bad news will be the fault of the previous administration while the good will be the new one.

Ooh – wait, sounding bitter again.

This is a congratulatory blog. I really do congratulate the man and I wish him the best. And I have hopes that he, with his big win, will be a counterbalance to Pelosi and Reid. I mean seriously, how can you talk with those 2 and then want to agree with them on anything. If Pelosi said “day”, I would automatically say “night”. Just because.

With any luck, Obama feels the same and we’ll see the leadership from the middle.

We’re a pretty lucky country. I expect that to continue even as it leans left. In the meantime – we really don’t like socialism (I think?) but Obama was too sexy to resist for many.

Here’s to Obama and his family. May they along with all the good people in public service, take good care of this place they hold in their hands.

(just no more chanting please!!!)

UPDATE: McCain’s very good concession speech.

UPDATE 2: President Bush sends his congratulations.

I will join you in offering congratulations to Pres-elect Obama and he will be my President also. (at least until he proves otherwise). The good news is that with a Dem White House, Senate and HofR there can be no more excuses. The budget will be balanced – no more deficit spending- energy problems solved – the economy in good shape – and the war on terror won.

I assume you weren’t attempting humor when you wrote two very funny things:
Obama as a counterbalance against Reid and Pelosi and leans left. I predict that he will not be the counterbalance, Obama will be lead weight that is heavier to the left than those two. We are about to enter a troubling time in our nations history.

Like I said – imagine sitting in a room with Pelosi and Reid.

You’ve just been elected the President and you are waaaaayy cooler than they will ever be.

You have the power of the people behind you.

Pelosi turns and says “Ok – this is going to be our agenda, x,y,z.” She elbows Reid and say, ” Henry – agree with me here.”

Again – you’re the new President. You have the keys to truck. Me, I’m going to tell Pelosi to stuff it and do my own thing.

(which yes – could easily be even further left – but Pelosi is left enough that maybe, just maybe, he’ll veer a little right/center)

I have to go with Terri on this one – Obama has to know what a whack job Reid (Harry not Henry) and Pelosi are. I don’t believe the election was a liberal mandate but a combination of the economy, dislike of Bush (Republicans), the war, ignorance, and some voting to assuage their so called inherited guilt for mistreatment of the black race, and votes based solely on color by fellow blacks.

I sincerely hope (that word again) that Terri is correct.
I worry about the old phrase:
    Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

We need to rebuild the Republican party and the best way to do that is to go back to basics…let’s all get back to the RIGHT where we came from. I hear so much trash on the internet about how the Republican Party needs to move farther left to ever nail down the majority…stupid. We look wishy-washy…which is how McCain looked to a lot of people… Let’s all stand strong and tall in our RIGHT morals and our values and get our act together and let some of the bad thoughts and feelings of W wash away and rally up the Republican party and let’s start winning some of the battles against the liberal left wing illuminati.

    Hi mnotaro,
You’re not going to get me on that bandwagon.
    I’m a Democrat.

And I disagree with a ton of what the right things is “right”.

If you want to talk about being fiscally conservative, and about being nationally strong, then we’ll talk.
If you want to talk about trashing the environment, or antimarriage for 2 committed adults or the govt telling me what to do with my insides, then no.

See – there isn’t an easy answer to either party.
McCain is a good man and he certainly has never been a wishy washy man.

He is our president, well that part is true. As far as him leading us in the right direction, not so true. He does not know how to stand up to the elitist illuminati who have gained so much power in Congress. Liberal voting for Obama all the way.
