Obama’s staffing problems are blatant — from that bleating boy of a treasury secretary to what appears to be a total vacuum where a chief of protocol should be. There has been one needless gaffe after another — from the president’s tacky appearance on a late-night comedy show to the kitsch gifts given to the British prime minister, followed by the sweater-clad first lady’s over-familiarity with the queen and culminating in the jaw-dropping spectacle of a president of the United States bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia. Why was protest about the latter indignity confined to conservatives? The silence of the major media was a disgrace. But I attribute that embarrassing incident not to Obama’s sinister or naive appeasement of the Muslim world but to a simple if costly breakdown in basic command of protocol.
I have to say, I wouldn’t know what to do if I met the King of Saudi Arabia, but, then again, I am not POTUS!!! beyond humiliating that this guy can’t handle the manners part of doing the job. I didn’t vote for him but thought this part he would be good at (schmoozing).
I think Ms. Paglia is one of the most refreshing and honest voices in America. She’s an honest to God feminist who knows feminism is about women and not liberal politics, O’Reilly had a segment on tonight and Tammy Bruce made the exact point. Ms Paglia is a writer I adore and confess at times she overwhelms me with how brilliant she is but I love her nonetheless. Oh yeah, she loves Gov Pain too.
Regarding the bow that may or may not have ben a bow, it was a full on, I beseech thee your highness. Regarding what DD said about meeting SA royalty, the point is, you aren’t the leader of the US, I have greeted asian leaders in ways I wouldn’t greet anyone else, but I’m not the Prez.
Can he embarass us or diminish the office of the Presidency any more?
