Captain Phillips is rescued and everyone rejoices, except Daily Kos who apparently has decided it’s in their best interest to be contrary for the hell of it.
The actual result is that Maersk, the shipowner, saved a lot of money that would have been lost with the ship inactive and off charter while it sat idle in a pirate port. Is this worth the deadly risk to the crew and the Seals? Not to me.
Um, dude, you weren’t the one who was kidnapped.

Man those people at Kos (and I think I am being generous including them as PEOPLE) are just absolutely crazy.
It was long past time to send these idiot pirates a strong message to quit being bullying thieves and find another hobby/living and stop being big losers, via our Navy SEALS.
And Barry is having to acknowledge what an awesome military we have and that they are quite useful – maybe we should acknowledge them for same!!
what awesome news.
What most are missing is the nuance that President Obama didn’t “order” this action, he authorized it, the difference being that he left the decisions up to those on the scene. The absolute correct choice, but saying he “ordered” it, makes him sound more commander in chiefy.
By the way, Terri, I think it worked out the way I thought it would. This ain’t my first time to the roadeo….
Coastwatcher – you haven’t shared why or how on earth the outcome would have could have been different if Obama had said
“I can’t speak on the situation but I absolutely have Captain Phillips in my thoughts and prayers”
vs
“Guys – we’re talking about housing now.”
It wouldn’t have. Somalians know that the President has the captain in his thoughts. He needn’t have dismissed the question.
you got me.
