Prostitution and Waiting for Mr. Right (Mr. Nice)

I wrote about this last year when earlier studies came out on macques, but today the editor(?) at HotAir shows his/her attitude about women that is appalling. (tell me it’s not you Captain Ed!!)

Since when is sharing sex with someone because they’re nice to you labeled prostitution? (If you can’t read the headline in the lower right it says:

Study: Female Chimpanzees pretty much prostitutes

picture-7

Click through to the story and you’ll find that when male chimps share their meat (snicker, snicker) with females they are more likely to get sex from said females. Not necessarily immediately, but when the time is right.

So let’s see….a prostitute will have sex with complete weirdos or mean people or smelly people or skanks or whoever as long as that person will pay them for the exchange.

AND apparently to the Hot Air headline writer a prostitute is also someone who is more likely to have sex with nice and generous folks than those who are not.

I’m guessing that makes most of us prostitutes OR to be more accurate the Hot Air writer a mysogynist pig.

The conclusion of the macaque study was the same. The scientists there called the exchange a “fee” for sex. As I said….leave it to a dude.

The Bow

Hey, someone somewhat famous mentioned the bow. Camille Paglia.

Obama’s staffing problems are blatant — from that bleating boy of a treasury secretary to what appears to be a total vacuum where a chief of protocol should be. There has been one needless gaffe after another — from the president’s tacky appearance on a late-night comedy show to the kitsch gifts given to the British prime minister, followed by the sweater-clad first lady’s over-familiarity with the queen and culminating in the jaw-dropping spectacle of a president of the United States bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia. Why was protest about the latter indignity confined to conservatives? The silence of the major media was a disgrace. But I attribute that embarrassing incident not to Obama’s sinister or naive appeasement of the Muslim world but to a simple if costly breakdown in basic command of protocol.

The Balance of Nature

The Balance of Nature is extremely intricate.

Kill all the mosquitos and you kill all the bats who are used in pollination and with the bees reduced…..etc, etc, etc.

Guess what…there is balance in humanity too.

Start dissing people about using too much carbon and all of a sudden business is loath to seem like they are wasters and your favorite state has to go begging for tourism dollars because it’s a bunch of islands in the middle of nowhere.

Because of the country’s stubborn recession, Americans have held tight to their travel dollars. But Hawaii’s problems are compounded by an increasingly hostile attitude toward business travel, particularly when major corporations are laying off hundreds of workers and accepting government bailouts.

Listen to the hedge:

Asked about corporate spending and the federal bailout, the president said: “You can’t get corporate jets, you can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer’s dime.”

Later, the White House tried to clarify the statement, saying the president encouraged travel, except for companies accepting government bailout money.

Life is interconnected. Unless you have the ability to connect all those dots and are aware of at least the most basic repercussions, …….maybe it’s be best to stay our of trying to micromanage it.

Now it’s Personal

Pirates off the coast of Somalia now have some of our folks.

I’m with OPFOR on this.

Piracy was one of the reasons we have a Navy. We need to use swift, decisive force now to kill the pirates on this ship and send a message to all the other ones out there waiting.

UPDATE: YAY!

The US crew of a ship hijacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia has retaken control of the vessel, according to Pentagon sources.

Europe is reading Between the Lines

Here’s a good quote:

And now the emollient liberal Mr Obama is saying: “We’re looking to be partners with Europe, and the more capable they are defensively,
the more we can act in concert on the shared challenges we face.”
This translates as: “You have built your healthcare systems and your welfare programmes on the back of our undertaking to defend you. While you got big-spending social democracy, we got the bill for protecting the whole show. Well, I’m planning to provide Americans with the sort of public health service that you guys have – and nobody knows better than you how inefficient and monstrously expensive that will be. So get ready to fend for yourselves.
It’s our turn to waste money at home now.

UPDATE: Here’s another good quote taken from a Washington Post story on Obama’s trip to Iraq. Where he explains what a responsible person he is. The quote is about his Europe trip.

Allies this week largely refused to provide additional combat troops for the mission there. But the leaders of France, Germany, Britain and others did offer strong endorsements of a new and more aggressive approach to defeating terrorism in the region.

Strong endorsements and UN resolutions. That is what impresses our President, only he calls it “leadership”.

Newest view

I’ve had complaints about the change of view from the 30th. So let’s try this one.

Let me know if the font is hard to read etc.

Tipping and the Italian Earthquake

So to make a “statement” about the service at a restaurant, tis better to tip a dollar when $15 is called for vs tipping nothing and letting the staff think you just forgot the tip.

What exactly is the statement President Obama is making to Italy right now with our $50,000 effort to help in their disaster recovery?

“Hey Italy, helper to us in both Afghanistan and Iraq, the country of Fabrizio Quattrochhi, we’re a little short right now, so work it out on your own.”

??

I’d be willing to throw a few million of the trillions floating around and around and around over to those folks.

Or here’s a thought, maybe Obama could accept some payback on Tarp, toss it over to the Italians and then try to tell them how to build safer greener buildings or something.

My thoughts and prayers are with you now Italy.
May this newest embarrassing gesture be upgraded soon.

UPDATE: A State Department wrote to Instapundit to share this:

“Quick point of clarification–the 50K for Italian quake relief is the amount immediately available from US Chiefs of Mission to release on their own authority. More will inevitably follow.” [back to Glenn Reynolds] Ah, I should have thought of that, and the story should have noted it.

Payback with Interest….apparently not available

What the hell? Taxpayers will not be paid back as Obama chooses power over money.

Here’s a true story first reported by my Fox News colleague Andrew Napolitano (with the names and some details obscured to prevent retaliation). Under the Bush team a prominent and profitable bank, under threat of a damaging public audit, was forced to accept less than $1 billion of TARP money. The government insisted on buying a new class of preferred stock which gave it a tiny, minority position. The money flowed to the bank. Arguably, back then, the Bush administration was acting for purely economic reasons. It wanted to recapitalize the banks to halt a financial panic.

Fast forward to today, and that same bank is begging to give the money back. The chairman offers to write a check, now, with interest. He’s been sitting on the cash for months and has felt the dead hand of government threatening to run his business and dictate pay scales. He sees the writing on the wall and he wants out. But the Obama team says no, since unlike the smaller banks that gave their TARP money back, this bank is far more prominent. The bank has also been threatened with “adverse” consequences if its chairman persists. That’s politics talking, not economics.

Americans in Somalia?

A Day of Appreciation for Bigger/Better Bloggers than Me

Bloggers like Ed at Hot Air. Willing to do the research and find out things like the New York times having a cow about Bill Clinton having a thought about bowing to the Japanese Emperor but nada on Obama’s actual bow to the Saudi King.

Bloggers like Breitbart who finds in the new mandatory volunteerism, there is this little tidbit:

The scariest part of the bill is that while you’re serving as a “volunteer,” you’re prohibited from participating in worship and church activities, political rallies and being involved in a union. In short, your essential freedoms are gone.

Hat tip to the Anchoress another less lazy blogger than I who is willing to post thoughts and thoughts on the amazing The Rev Katherine Hancock Ragsdale who has determined that abortion is a blessing.

There is also Powerline who took the time to hear/read Obama’s speech in France and comment on it. Sorry – I just didn’t want to suffer through it.

And of course Gateway Pundit who will continue to keep us all informed of the Iraqi war hero currently being kept out of the country due to his thievery from Uday!!

The main switchboard phone number is here: 202-647-4000 The Press Office is (202) 647-2492 Contact Congress.

Be polite, be professional, be unwavering in letting them know they are going to be hearing a lot more about this bureaucratic issue that could easily be resolved.

These are all bigtime bloggers, so if I don’t mention a story that is well worth your time, it’s because others have it covered and covered far better than I ever can.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the fact that these folks dig and keep digging to get to the real scoop on these stories that are out there.

So here is a day of appreciation for the big name bloggers. They’re big time because they deserve it! They work hard, they’re honest, and they link away to others. They find the facts behind the facts and thank God they do because we’d be waiting forever if we had to wait for the newspapers to do it.

UPDATE: I mean to add kudos to Ed Morrissey on this story too. Charles Blow is freaking out on the revolutionary words coming from the right, while at the same time suggesting public flogging himself.

See….Ed finds this.
