Coups

Via HotAir.

Iran’s former president [Mohammed Khatami] has joined ranks with the country’s embattled reformist presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, and accused the Iranian government of failing its people in the recent election and condemning the subsequent crackdown on protesters.

Wow.

Meanwhile, in this neck of the woods the US media gives Obama an assist with his mistaken stance against Honduran law.

Say what??

Iraq

I know I’m bitter, but this article’s tone is amazingly full of bullshit. (ooh – do I need to leave the state again?)

As Michael Jackson died we’ve forgotten Iraq
Obama pressed that there’s a lot of work to be done
the policy of going in was judged a failure
Bush was judged a failure
Bush came up with the surge that worked, but in general was judged a failure
We expect more violence
Maliki noted the “end of the occupation”

Then the damn paper gives Obama credit for the June 20th withdrawal out of the cities, orquestrated by the SOFA in December when Bush was still in office.

Unbelievable.

Yes, MSM, it’s all about Obama. Oh yeah – and then get this quote.

“There will be difficult days ahead,” Obama said. “We see that already in the senseless bombing in Kirkuk earlier today. And there are those who will test Iraqi security forces and the resolve of the Iraqi people through more sectarian bombings. … But I’m confident that those forces will fail.”

Is he covering both ends, or just being an idiot?

Honduras

This is worth a read today.

Then if you want to read the funny papers, feel free to read this from the NYtimes and how all this Latin America stuff reflects on his highness, while of course dissing President Bush.

“Obama Leads the Reaction to the Coup in Honduras,” read the front-page headline on Tuesday in Estado de São Paulo, one of the most influential newspapers in Brazil, whose ties to Washington are warm.

In recent years, Mr. Chávez has often seemed to outmaneuver Washington on such issues. He exploited the Bush administration’s low standing after the Iraq war and its tacit approval for the brief coup that toppled him in 2002, and blamed the United States for ills in Venezuela and across the region.

Now such tactics may get less traction, as the Obama administration presses for a multilateral solution to the crisis in Honduras by turning to the Organization of American States. In doing so, Mr. Obama is moving away from policies that had isolated the United States in parts of the hemisphere.

“With Honduras, the Obama administration has taken the mainstream road that is more in sync with other countries in the region,” said Peter DeShazo, director of the Americas program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

We’ll see which roads stands for liberty and democracy.

They’re hanging protesters in Iran Now

Protesters in Iran put their lives on the line to be heard. The least we could do is keep hearing them over the sounds of Beat It.

Congress’s cap and trade sounds like it’s going to make selling your home even more fun in this economy.

Via Gateway Pundit:

Under the new democratic cap and trade legislation all US homes will have to meet strict government eco-standards before they can be sold.

Congress..doing what they can to make the worst of a bad situation so you don’t have to.
