War

In all the stories of war in Libya – I, a girl with zero knowledge of combat – find it odd that the media really likes it when both sides are pretty much even and with momentum on the side of the underdog.

Its as if no one should be allowed to actually decisively win the objective.

Even us. If there were an objective and if we were part of the fight (ahem) we would be bad if we actually went ahead and used all our guns to win the objective.

Apparently in the eyes of many, the playground with a teacher overseer is how war should be “played”. Dear journalists…this isn’t play.

    YES. Precisely.

My uncle was thought to have had his life saved by the A-bomb. He was a tail-gunner, so this is probably correct.

Of course, just a little while after that we started the United Nations, which among other things is supposed to offer an alternative to armed conflict as a means for settling disputes. Anyone who’s taken the trouble to just superficially catalog the “wars” that have taken place since then, will notice the U.N. has achieved the exact opposite. The conflicts are still armed, they aren’t really settled, in fact they’re all endless. We seem to have expended a great deal of energy in a global effort to trade in the over-and-done explosion of traditional warfare, with a slow burn that is never extinguished.

We call it “progress,” so just keep repeating that part of it over & over, and everything will be fine.

OK, I am going to ruin your watching of the civil war in Libya with the folowing observations: I have been watching the conflict since it started, I have seen one, precisely ONE guy wearing what’s generally called “battle rattle.” I mean, I’ve been looking very closely AT BOTH SIDES to see if there are any professionals or even motivated amatuers wearing chest rigs or rucksacks where you would keep ectra ammo, grenades, water, food.

In these past weeks I have seen ONE rebel wearing a rig and today, I saw my first guy with an AK-47 and taped magazines back to back in his weapon. I am now more relaxed in my thoughts of defending America from the evildoer hordes external to us because I know 17 yeard old kids playing air soft that would kick the ass of any marauding invading Army against us.

    Carry on!

Not sure how that ruined it.

Here’s a question for Coastwatcher…..say the 17yo kids would kick the ass of any marauders….

My point is I suspect then the MSM would be up in arms themselves if the 17yo’s were actually kicking ass. They (the MSM) like to make certain both sides are equal. Which is particularly hard to do if the equalness needs to come in brains, not arms.
