Huh?

UPDATE: First news accounts really do suck, don’t they? Here is the latest version of what happened.

From the Washington Post we hear of a guy who tweeted the takedown.

“Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event),” wrote Athar. Moments later, he added: “A huge window shaking bang here… I hope its not the start of something nasty.”
After liveblogging and speculating for several hours over what happened, it dawned on Athar and those following him that they were witnessing the end of a worldwide manhunt for the man held responsible for orchestrating the September 11, 2001 attacks.
“I think the helicopter crash in Abbottabad, Pakistan and the President Obama breaking news address are connected,” said one of Athar’s followers.
Seven hours after Athar’s first tweet, President Barack Obama announced bin Laden’s death in an operation by U.S. forces where one helicopter was lost.

I believe the post has been taken for a ride. Obama announced one week after Osama was dead. Me thinks the tweeter would have noted the gunshots a week ago….not yesterday.

I am confused- I heard that it happened a week ago, when I was listening last night. This morning they say Obama signed the order to proceed on April 29 at 8:20 am. And if it happened that quickly how could they do dna that fast? or can they if they need to, it just takes a week otherwise?

It happened yesterday. The news originally reported that the operation was a week ago, but that was mistaken reporting. The takedown was yesterday — they did facial recognition before shooting him and compared DNA to a sister’s brain later — last night when they reported that they had waited a week for DNA confirmation, they were totally wrong.

This is part of the SEAL catch and release program….

First you catch them hiding behind a woman…

Then you release them from the hangar deck of an American aircraft carrier….

While many are trumpeting that we followed Islamic Law, I’m very happy we followed the law West of the Pecos, laid down by President George W. Bush, and sung by Jon Bon Jovi:

    Wanted: Dead or Alive.
