I’ll take it seriously when those that preach do.

Thomas Friedman wrote an end of the world item yesterday. Today we find out how he lives(d). (not clear if he still lives in the same place) From an old neighbor:

He lives on about seven acres — it was once the home site of a prominent Washington attorney…The house sits on a hill with a great view and a western exposure. Friedman bought the house from the late lawyer’s family about five years ago, tore down the huge older house and constructed an [over 11,000] square foot residence, with 7.5 bathrooms, on the hilltop. It is beautifully landscaped, as you can tell from the aerial/satellite photographs, and the foliage likely requires a lot of water.

But it’s not too late to make amends: contact your local elected officials and demand that they do something to alleviate our suffering. Demand an end to ARMs, and demand subprime do-overs. If we don’t act now, the entire economy will collapse, and people like me — and my children, and my dirtbikes — will be out on the streets looking for a new place to live. Maybe in your neighborhood.

Based on that story, I’ll be demanding the crisis get fixed. I don’t want him here!!

George Will wouldn’t have a problem though. He’d rather not see the govt involved in private contract. Mr. Will is just not being practical.

Perhaps Washington’s intervention in the subprime problem reveals the tiny tip of an enormous new entitlement: People who voluntarily run a risk, betting that they will escape unscathed, are entitled to government-organized amelioration when they lose their bets. The costs of this entitlement will include new ambiguities in the concepts of contracts and private property.

Apparently this is going on at a college in Minessota’s meditation room.

Let’s say that a public college started segregating non-restroom facilities by gender, giving women less resources than men. Add to that the dissemination of literature that instructed women to keep their mouths shut, as public speech by women offends. Top it off with diatribes that demands the shunning of Jews and Christians, and one might see the lawsuit appearing quickly in the rear-view mirror. However, in Minneapolis’ Normandale College, it’s just another concession to radical Muslims

King Abdullah pardons the woman who got jail time and lashes for being with a male unescorted and gives her lawyer back his license.
Apparently if the world screams loudly enough, crap like this will disappear. Too bad it happens every day and none of us have the energy to keep at it.
